The Rumor Mill
By VANESA BRASHIER
There is an old saying that goes, “If you haven’t heard a rumor today, start one.”
In small communities such as ours, rumors and gossip might be entertaining, but it can also be damaging, particularly to city leaders and employees, law enforcement officers and politicians, who are often the targets of specious allegations.
In an effort to stamp out the false rumors and bring to light the legitimate ones, the editorial staff at the Advocate is launching an online link where people can post what they have heard and where they can find contact information for editorial staff members.
To post online, you must register for our site, which is a quick process. If you prefer to send e-mail, address them to vbrashier@hcnonline.com. Phone calls should be directed to Editor Vanesa Brashier or Staff Reporter Alex Wukman at 281-592-2626. After-hour phone calls to the editor may be done so at 936-346-1051 (serious inquiries only; no sales calls or advertising questions).
