Sugar Land hosting Halloween Town Oct. 31

Updated: 10.16.08
Little goblins and ghouls can enjoy Halloween in an environmentally friendly way with Sugar Land’s Halloween Town.

The Oct. 31 event is going green by using recycled products and things like seed paper for the coloring station that can be planted and grown.

Other activities include a free photo station, extreme face painting, haunted horse and carriage rides and trick-or-treating at local retailers.

The event will last from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.

A costume contest, held on the steps of City Hall, will have six categories for competition including: family or group, up to 3 years old, 4-7 years old, 8-12 pre-teen group and pets.

Only one winner from 30 contestants in each category will win prizes.

Pet owners can treat their furry friends to a night of fun at the “Howl-O-Ween” boot sponsored by A Dog’s Life Luxury Dog Boutique.

The night will culminate with a classic Halloween movie under the stars, including free popcorn distributed in compostable containers in an effort to encourage a litter-free event.

The event is free to the community; however, there is a minimum charge for game participation and food. For more information or to fill out a costume contest application, visit Sugar Land’s Web site at www.sugarlandtx.gov.

To get in the Halloween spirit kids can stop by Sugar Land Town Square, Friday, Oct. 24 for a pumpkin workshop.
