The search is on for a man police believe attempted to kidnap a teenage girl at a Fort Bend County area gas station, according to a report by HCN news affiliate KTRK Channel 13.

According to the news reports, an 18-year-old girl was pumping gas at the Kroger gas station located at Bay Hill and the Grand Parkway on Sunday night, Oct. 19.

The teenager’s mother said the man approached her daughter as she attempted to put the gas hose up and positioned himself between the girl and her vehicle.

According to the woman, the suspect then pulled down the teen’s blouse and grabbed her arm, according to the news report.

Fort Bend County Sheriff Department officials called a 1 p.m. press conference to allow the media to view video from the gas station showing the man lingering around the station, moving his vehicle to different spots of the parking lot.

The suspect is a white male, approximately 50 years old, with a large build, about 6-feet to 6-feet, 2-inches tall, according to Craig Brady, a chief in the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Department.

In a Fort Bend County press release, the suspect is further described as having sandy or light-colored hair with hair on his face, possibly a beard.  He was wearing a white, short-sleeve T-shirt at the time of the incident.

The suspect drove a vehicle, described as a black Dodge diesel, 4-door, 4-wheel-drive pick up truck, according to the sheriff department.

Brady asks anyone that was in the gas station parking lot and saw anything, particurlarly a woman driving a red Honda, who the suspect may have also attempted to target, to contact the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Department.

"I think that there is a high probability that this is not his first go around with this," said Brady of the suspect in the video.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact Fort Bend County Crime Stoppers at 281-342-TIPS (8477).

Information, which leads to the apprehension and filing of charges on the suspect involved, could earn up to a $5,000 cash reward.

All calls to Crime Stoppers are anonymous.
