An iconic duo will starting their engines at the San Jacinto Harley-Davidson to celebrate the opening of the 12th House of Blues in the United States. Jim Belushi and Dan Akroyd will lead the caravan, which begins at 1 p.m.
An iconic duo will be revving up at the San Jacinto Harley-Davidson this Saturday to kick off the celebration of the grand opening of Houston’s own House of Blues at the corner of Caroline and Dallas Streets.
Filling in for his late brother, John, Jim Belushi will ride alongside Dan Ackroyd as a current-day version of the Blues Brothers, this time standing in as the House of Blues Ride Escorts.
“Every time they open a House of Blues across the country, Dan Ackroyd likes to lead a ride,” said Carrie Miller Graves, marketing manager for the San Jacinto Harley-Davidson Houston. “San Jacinto is part of the Stubbs family of dealerships, the oldest family-run Harley-Davidson dealerships in the city of Houston. I would say that they chose us due to our heritage.”
At least 1,000 riders are expected to participate in the commemorative journey, starting at 1 p.m. at the San Jacinto Harley-Davidson on the Beltway between Vista and Fairmont Parkway and ending up at the Stubbs Harley-Davidson, where 500 riders will join the group.
The ride is a celebration of the 12th House of Blues opening throughout the United States, but will double as a fundraiser for the Gulf Coast Ike Relief Fund, established to assist in meeting the needs for Ike’s victims in Galveston, Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Harris and Montgomery counties.
