Waller County 4-H Youth and Development hold banquet

WALLER COUNTY - The Waller County 4-H Youth and Development Program held its annual awards banquet at the Knights of Colum-bus Hall in Hempstead on Sept. 7. The attendees were honored to have Commissioner Glenn Beckendorff as keynote speaker.  He delivered a very motivating speech.

Waller County 4-H greatly appreciates his continued support, and is so glad he could participate in one last celebration of the Texas 4-H Centennial.

A nice chicken fried steak dinner was served by Berry Harrison.

Numerous awards were presented to the Waller County 4-H youth.  The 4-H Adult Leader and Parent’s Association (ALPA) scholarships were presented to Aubrey DeBerry, Sarah Bonefas and Jeremy Bettis.


The David McGregor Memorial Foundation Scholarship was presented to Aubrey DeBerry.

The Friend of 4-H Award was presented to Carl’s BBQ in Waller to recognize their support of the Waller County 4-H program.

The Outstanding Leader Awards were presented to Tim and Dorothy Friedel and Katherine Jones.

The high point recipients were Westin Seets, Layne Huebner, Joseph Jones, Patrick Jones and Miranda Jones.  The Bronze Star Award recipient was Layne Huebner.  The Silver Star Award recipient was Miranda Jones.  The Danforth I Dare You Award recipient was Mason Seets.

The Gold Star Award recipients were Brandon Behrens and Patrick Jones.

Congratulations to all of these award winners.  They worked hard to achieve their goals.

The Waller County 4-H Council would like to extend a great big thanks to all of the Waller County Exten-sion Agents for their dedication and guidance and to all of the 4-H volunteers, leaders and parents who have helped to make the 2007-2008 4-H year a great success.

National 4-H Week this year is Oct. 5-11, and the Waller County 4-H celebrated with a Balloon Release on Oct. 7 on the courthouse lawn.

The Balloon Release is open to everyone in the community.  This event will include light refreshments, games and a balloon release. 

Please help Waller County youths celebrate National 4-H week.
