Darcy Mingoia was recently named the executive director for the Lone Star College Foundation. Mingoia joined LSC Foundation in her new position Sept. 16.

“Darcy brings a long history of support for our college system and passion for our mission,” said Ray Laughter, LSCS vice chancellor for external affairs.

Laughter said Mingoia is enthusiastic about the opportunity and she brings “extensive non-profit organizational management as well as professional fund raising experience in the community to this position.”

“She has an unbelievable track record of achievement and success,” he said. “We look forward to her moving the LSC Foundation to a new level.”

Mingoia served as the president for the Cy-Fair Houston Chamber of Commerce for more than nine years focusing on economic development and providing relationship building, leadership and educational opportunities while representing the interests of Cy-Fair area businesses. While at the chamber she led the efforts for Cy-Fair Independent School District to join the college district and after the annexation, Cy-Fair College was created.

Previously she served as the community relations manager for Baker-Jackson Nissan. Most recently she served as the executive director for the Houston Gulf Coast/South Texas Chapter Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America.

Mingoia received a degree in journalism from The University of Texas at Austin and has completed post baccalaureate business classes at Houston Community College and graduate classes in business at the University of Houston. She is currently a Planning and Zoning Commissioner for the City of Jersey Village and is an active member of both the Cypress Fairbanks Educational Foundation and the American Heart Association.

“I am delighted to be serving our community through the Lone Star College Foundation,” said Darcy Mingoia.

The LSC Foundation is dedicated to raising funds to support students, faculty and programs.

“There is nothing more impactful than changing lives by providing educational opportunities,” she said. “Education opens the door to new and exciting opportunities for our community members and increases economic development and well-being for us all. The LSC Foundation makes a difference in the lives of many today and I look forward to being a part of a future of even more impact, participation and support.”

Lone Star College System consists of five colleges, including LSC-CyFair, LSC-Kingwood, LSC-Montgomery, LSC-North Harris, and LSC-Tomball, six centers and Lone Star College-University Center.

With more than 51,000 students in credit classes this fall, LSCS is the largest institution of higher education in the Houston area and third largest community college system in Texas. To learn more, visit www.LoneStar.edu.
