Harris County Homicide Investigators are looking into the death of  2-year-old Kiley Perkins of Crosby, who succumbed to head injuries sustained from an alleged fall the night of Wednesday, Oct. 1.

According to police, a 911 call was placed from Perkins’ Crosby home that night reporting that the infant had fallen in the bathroom and struck her head.

Perkins was unresponsive when paramedics arrived on the scene, said Sgt. Roger Wedgeworth with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Division.

Perkins was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital via life flight where she spent several days in intensive care before succumbing to her injuries nearly a week later on Tuesday, Oct. 7.

Preliminary autopsy results revealed that Perkins suffered a series of skull fractures that led to her death.

Investigators determined that Perkins had been in the care of her father’s girlfriend at the time of the incident and are currently looking for evidence of foul play.

Wedgeworth said that neither the young victim’s father nor his girlfriend have a criminal history.

“They seemed like a couple of hardworking people just trying to make it in the world,” he said.

The incident remains under investigation.
