Baseball boosters golf tourney
The Who’s on First Baseball Booster Club will host its fourth annual golf tournament to benefit the Deer Park High School baseball team.
The event is scheduled to start with an 8 a.m. shotgun start on Saturday, Nov. 8, at Battleground Golf Course, 1600 Georgia. The entry deadline is Oct. 29. The format is a four-person Florida Scramble.
The fees are:
$465 for a corporate sponsor, including four golfers and a tee box sign.
$340 team sponsor for four golfers.
$125 tee box sponsor.
$85 per player, who will be placed on a team, including green fee, cart, range balls and lunch.
$5 for each Mulligan (no limit).

7th A 2, Victory Lakes 0
Score/Results: 25-21, 25-15
The 7th grade volleyball team competed in a 13 team Westbrook tournament this past weekend and came away with a third place finish. The girls defeated Clear Lake in the first round by a score of 25-7 and 25-10. Abby Hawthorne led the team in scoring with 14 points, while Jocelyn Schoppe had 11 points. Ali Dupin and Maddi Williston led the team in hits with 6 each. In the second round game the girls defeated Creekside 25-10 and 25-12. Dupin led the team in scoring with 13 points, while Kara Sollock had 9 points and Schoppe and Williston each added 8 points. Williston again led the team in hits with 8. In the next round, the girls were handed their only loss by a strong team from Brookside by close scores of 20-25, 25-19 and 10-15. Alana Tinker and Williston led the team in scoring with 13 points each. Dupin led the team in assists while Williston had another team high of 11 hits. In the third place game, the girls defeated Victory Lakes by the score of 25-21 and 25-15. Sollock led the team in scoring with 11 points, while Dupin and Tinker grabbed 9 points each. Williston had 10 hits, while Dupin added 7. Mariah Mills and Jada Knott came in to give us great net play on the front row. Michelle Linton got defensive honors for her passing and ball control. The entire team did a great job and will start zone play next week against Lomax. Most Valuable Player-Madison Williston; Offensive Players-Ali Dupin and Jocelyn Schoppe; Defensive Players-Michelle Linton and Kara Sollock.
8th B 3, Berry Hill 1
Score/Results: 22-25, 25-11, 25-11
The 8B Lady Fawns won their season opener beating Berry Miller by the scores of 22-25, 25-11 and 25-11. Leading the team in scoring was Becca Rodriguez with 11 followed by Amanda Antra and Anslee Davidson each with 9 points. The team was lead defensively by Tiffany Ramos, Amanda Danke, and Brooke Erdmann. Offensively the team was lead by Lauren Allen, Erica Harris, Taylor Overstreet and Becca Rodriguez. Others helping with the win include: Samantha Cervantes, Frannie Escoto, Alicia Nettles, Taylor Obenberger, Lauren Oehler and Sarah Sanford.

Score/Results: 25-13, 25-16.
Congratulations to the Lady Vikings on defeating Pearland West 25-13, 25-16. Top server for the evening was Sarah Baumgartner with 19 points and 4 of those were ace serves. Chelsea Dungan had 6 points and 1 serve was an ace. Reagan Meek had 5 points. Katie Tadlock had 3 points. Malorie Lee and Paige Stephens had 2 points a piece. Leading the hitting category was Chelsea Dungan and Paige Stephens with 3 hits a piece. Brianna Turney had 2 hits and Katie Tadlock had 1 hit. Also contributing to the win with tough net play and good passes was Tiffany Boston. Coach Lamberth states, "The girls looked good for their first match of the season. We have some areas that can stand some improvement, but overall it was a solid match."

Score/Results: 25-13, 25-10
The 8B Volleyball team beat Pearland West last night by the scores of 25-13, 25-10. The Lady Vikings were led offensively by Kori Schumann with 10 points. Madeline Wadsworth accounted for 9 points. Taylor Tice followed up with 5 points. Haley Lofton scored 4 points. Rebecca Chance, Marisa Garcia and Courtney Saxton all had 2 a piece. The Vikings had strong net play by Taylor Tice having 5 hits and 2 kills. Kori Schumann had 3 hits and 1 kill. Marisa Garcia had 3 hits, Caytlin Kee had 2 hits, and Haley Lofton had 1 hit. Bailey "Buff" Davis and Shannon Crosby both did an outstanding job at the net. Coach Milliorn says "The girls did a wonderful job in the games againt Pearland West. They showed outstanding teamwork, and didn't let up. Way to go Lady Vikings!"

For the first game of the season, the Fairmont Vikings played a great game, dominating Pearland West with their strong serves. Outstanding servers for the game were McKayla Gastian with 10 points, Madison Haltom with 9 points, and Caitlin Plocheck with 8 points. Kelsey Davis added 6 points and Alexis Halling put in 3. Sarah Freshour and Madison Johnson contributed 2 points each while Skye Garcia had 1. Plocheck, Freshour and Johnson controlled the net swatting down several balls as they crossed the net. While attacking Halling, Haltom, Plocheck and Freshour each put down several forceful hits. Morgan Plunkett, Devann Hebert, and Haltom dug up volleyballs from the back row to begin the offense. Overall, the Vikings had an awesome win for their first game.

Expansion set for 2009
The Women’s Blue Chip Basketball League is currently accepting team applications for the 2009 season. The goal for the 2009 season is to establish at least 50 solid teams across North America and in Other Countries.
Open enrollment for the upcoming season ends Jan. 31, 2009.

ECBA seeking local teams
Introducing the Elite Club Basketball Association, (ECBA). Our goal is to provide high quality men’s basketball on the Semi-Professional level.
The ECBA administrative staff has worked hard to improve the level of Semi-Pro Basketball in the United States and to make the league operations efficient and appealing to the members.
The ECBA offers great exposure and top rate competition. The league is designed to show scouts what players are capable of doing in live game situations. Teams will compete against very talented former-college and professional players with a variety of experience.
We are expecting to start 2009 with 20 to 25 teams across Arkansas, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Texas, and other states.
The 2009 Season begins on May 16 and ends Aug. 15, 2009. The 2009 schedule will feature weekly games played on Saturdays.
Team enrollment ends Jan. 31, 2009.
