Jeans and Jewels Luncheon raises nearly $25,000 in style
By OBSERVER STAFF REPORTS
The Jeans and Jewels Luncheon and Style Show raised nearly $25,000 for Northwest Assistance Ministries with snazz and pizazz.
Up from the $21,000 raised last year, the luncheon was a prosperous prelude to NAM’s 10th annual Jeans and Jewels Gala being held on Oct. 18 at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott.
“Hurricane Ike seemed to impact everyone, but NAM is counting on funds raised at the gala to continue operating throughout the year,” said Susan Diehl, gala co-chair. “It is important that people step up and support the event so NAM is here day in and day out as well as when there is a crisis.”
The luncheon, held on Sept. 11 at Shirley Acres, featured mother and daughter fashions from Scruples, was emceed by Dana Tyson of Sunny 99.1 Radio and honored longtime NAM volunteer Cindy Doyle. Gala honorees are Lindy and Steve Hamblin.
This year’s gala raffle item is a pendant and earring set designed by Gadi and donated by Thomas Markle Jewelers. The pendant is on a 20-inch gold chain and has a 4.75 CT fantasy cut garnet surrounded by diamonds. Diamonds also surround 4.80 CT fantasy cut garnets in each earring. The total value is $6,200.
Pre-purchased raffle tickets are $20 or six for $100. Only 5,000 tickets have been printed.
