College to host election lecture
On Wednesday, Oct. 1, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., San Jacinto College Central will host a lecture entitled “Seven Habits of Effective Voters” to provide participants information about the upcoming November general election.
The lecture will be presented by nationally acclaimed historian, producer, and journalist Rick Shenkman, who is also the editor and founder of George Mason University’s History News Network, a website that features articles by historians on current events.
An associate professor of history at George Mason University, he can be seen regularly on Fox News, CNN, and MSNBC. Shenkman is a New York Times best-selling author of six history books, including “Legends, Lies & Cherished Myths of American History and Presidential Ambition: How the Presidents Gained Power, Kept Power and Got Things Done.” His latest book is “Just How Stupid Are We? Facing the Truth About the American Voter.”
The election presentation is a part of San Jacinto College’s Discovery Lecture Series, which are always free and open to the public. The Lecture Series meetings take place in the ballroom, located on the second floor of the Newton Student Center. San Jacinto College Central is located at 8060 Spencer Highway in Pasadena.
