Jim McIngvale to speak at MCBA luncheon
By DIANE TEZENO
Missouri City Business Alliance members will host a business luncheon featuring Gallery Furniture owner, Jim McIngvale.
The luncheon will be held at the Missouri City Community Center, 1522 Texas Parkway, on Oct. 15, from 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.
McIngvale, known widely to the public as “Mattress Mack” will talk to area business owners about the business principles he outlines in his book “Always Think Big.”
McIngvale will share some of the business principles that became a recipe for his success in the retail furniture industry and helped him build one of the largest retail furniture stores in the country.
The luncheon will be limited to the first 200 businesses to register, according to coordinators.
“MCBA is very excited to have him there to pass on his business wisdom to area business owners in hopes that some of those great ideas will enhance the operation of local businesses,” said Mark Zeitler, president of the MCBA.
Food for the luncheon will be provided by Greatest BBQ, located at 2358 Texas Parkway in Missouri City.
The luncheon will include McIngvale’s presentation and the culmination of the 2008 MCBA membership drive.
Currently 170 businesses make up membership in the MCBA, representing a range of industries from banking and real estate to fitness and pet resorts.
The organization holds quarterly business luncheons and brings in speakers to talk with local business owners on strategies for operating and building their businesses.
The October luncheon is designed to inspire local business owners with ideas to help grow their businesses.
The luncheon is free for members and $5 for non-members.
“Last month, luncheon speakers included Jeff Wiley of the Fort Bend Economic Development Council and Missouri City Mayor Allen Owen,” said Zeitler.
Wiley shared insights on the economic condition of the County and Owen provided an update on the City’s vision and plans for redevelopment of the Quail Valley Country Club properties.
The deadline for registering for the luncheon is Oct. 13.
