Candidates invited to debate forum
WALLER - Citizens for a Better Waller County will be hosting a Candidates Forum on Thursday, Oct. 23, at the Waller High School cafeteria in Waller.
The forum will give Waller County voters the opportunity to meet the candidates on the Nov. 4 general election ballot.
The forum will be conducted in a debate format and will involve questions presented to candidates that have been submitted by the general public. The forum will focus on contested races that affect Waller County.
“This is a unique opportunity for Waller County citizens to have an opportunity see candidates in contested races debate the issues that are important to us all. Well informed voters will reap benefits for Waller County when they make their voices heard on November 4th,” said Don Garrett, CBWC president. “Having this forum in a debate format should also make the forum much more interesting for citizens.”
Invitations have been extended to candidates in the contested races for U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives (10th District of Texas), Texas House of Represent-atives (District 28), Waller County Sheriff, Waller County Comm-issioner, Precincts 2 and 3, and Waller County Constable, Precinct 2.
A meet and greet with the candidates will be held from 6:30 to 7 p.m. The debate program will begin promptly at 7 p.m. and will be moderated by Trey Duhon, CBWC vice president and local attorney.
The moderator will present a question addressed to both candidates, and each candidate will be given a limited time to answer the question asked. Candidates will also be given an opportunity to make a closing statement.
CBWC is currently accepting questions from the general public for the debate. The directors of CBWC will evaluate the questions submitted and will have the final decision on the questions that will be presented during the debate.
