The extension of Brown Road east of SH 249 is to be complete near the end of November. Originally the project was to be completed in August, but significant rain delays, including Hurricane Ike, have slowed the project.

Tomball City Manager Jan Belcher updated members of a Greater Tomball Area Chamber of Commerce committee meeting on the status of the Brown Road extension and other city improvements Oct. 9.

Michel Road under contract

The city recently entered a contract to begin work on Michel Road, east from SH 249 to School Street.

From start to finish, the process should take about nine months and right now, there’s no start date so there’s no completion date.

Land acquisition underway for Rudolph Road improvements

The city is working to acquire property for the first phase of Rudolph Road improvements, Belcher said. High-end residential development is proposed in the area, she said.

Tennis courts in high demand

One thing the City of Tomball has the most requests for is more tennis courts, she said. A resurfacing project of the courts at Matheson Park is almost complete. Even when the courts are in use, they are completely booked all the time, Belcher said. Right now, the city doesn’t have the funds to build any more courts.
