The Harris County Sheriff’s Office reports the following arrests between Sept. 15 and 21:

Sept. 15

Criminal trespass. Deputies Taylor and Miller responded to a burglary in progress call at the Forester Apartments, 12603 Woodforest. Four juveniles (three males and one female) were found in a vacant apartment with a broken door, and were charged with criminal trespassing. Two of the juveniles had been reported as runaways.

HC-08-113622

Sept. 18

Burglary. During the aftermath of Hurricane Ike, a witness watched as a gold colored Buick driven by a female, pulled up to the Valero gas station at Woodforest and Sterling Green and dropped off a man, who proceeded to pry open the door and go inside. A short time later, the Buick returned and the man exited the station with a large trash bag full of items. The witness contacted HCSO and followed the suspect vehicle from a safe distance. Deputy Sims responded to the call and arrested Justin Manning, 27, of Houston, and Latoya Dunham, 27, of Channelview. The trash bag was located and found to contain 61 cartons of Marlboro cigarettes valued at approximately $3,500. The couple’s 4-month-old baby boy was also found in the vehicle and released to Dunham’s mother.

HC-08-114758

Cruelty to animals. Deputy Malkowsky was called to a juvenile disturbance in the 16400 block of Second Street. A 16-year-old juvenile was angered because he thought two neighbors, ages 12 and 14, had stolen his bicycle. While the two boys were gone from their home, the 16-year-old entered their yard and beat their dog to death with a stick. The juvenile was arrested for cruelty to animals.

HC-08-114984

Burglary of building. Clarence Smith, 49, forced the doors open at the Shell gas station at 17141 East Freeway in an attempt to steal some beer. Deputy Wright arrived and arrested Smith for burglary of a building.

HC-08-115141

Sept. 20

Possession. While investigating a disturbance in the 300 block of Normandy, Deputies Wright and Gonzalez arrested Julie Casiano and Robert Loredo for possession of a controlled substance. The two 18-year-olds were found in possession of a plastic baggie of cocaine.

HC-08-115651

Possession. Deputy Herrmann stopped a white Ford pickup in the 16100 block of the East Freeway for a traffic violation. Upon making contact with the driver, Herrmann noticed a 12-inch Bowie knife on the bench seat beside the driver. Donnell Moss, 31, of Houston, was arrested for possession of a prohibited eapon.

HC-08-115823

Sept. 21

False report. Deputy Ricamore responded to a call in which Christina Rendon, 20, said she had escaped from an unknown kidnapper. However, the deputy spoke to the alleged kidnapper and was informed that Rendon was a prostitute and he had been a regular customer of hers for years. The man also said that because of Hurricane Ike, he had been out of work and did not have any money to pay Rendon for her services. That is when Rendon conjured the kidnapping story. Rendon was arrested and charged with providing a false report to police.

HC-08-116175

Endangerment. The mother left her 5-year-old son in their apartment alone, while she went to get some crack cocaine. Other drugs, easily accessible to the child, were found in the apartment. Sandra Gutierrez, 24, of Channelview, was arrested for abandoning and endangering a child.
