WHO: The Breast Cancer Network of Strength – Texas Gulf Coast Affiliate, The Rose, and AstraZeneca will host the very first “Many Faces of Breast Cancer” event in Houston, a national program to celebrate and educate breast cancer survivors about survivorship issues.

WHAT: Often discussion of breast cancer centers on diagnosis and early detection, however today there are 2.5 million women who call themselves breast cancer survivors.

“The Many Faces of Breast Cancer” is an event focused on the unique needs and issues of these survivors, providing the latest information on breast cancer, one of the most common cancers in women. An engaging panel of eminent medical experts, survivors and advocates will discuss the latest treatment research and explore key survivorship issues.

A Harris Interactive survey of breast cancer survivors found that most survivors were concerned about their breast cancer coming back, but were unaware of what they could do to prevent a recurrence. This suggests that greater action and education is needed about the many ways women can help reduce their risk of recurrence.
