Art exhibit fundraiser at Sugar Land Town Square

Updated: 09.26.08
The Artists’ Alliance of Sugar Land is hosting a “Heart thru Art” community fundraiser to bring people together to appreciate the arts and give back to children in need throughout Fort Bend and Harris County.

The exhibit, to be held at 16190 City Walk Blvd., (formerly Bombay Company and Bombay Kids) will feature original works by Artists’ Alliance of Sugar Land member artists. Original artwork from a range of artistic mediums will be on display, including oil, acrylic, pastel, watercolor, mixed media, collage, sculpture, fiber art, metalwork, photography and ceramics, and will be available for purchase.

Twenty percent of proceeds from the sale of artwork at the exhibit will support “Heart Thru Art” efforts.

The show, free and open to the public, will kick off on Saturday, Sept. 27 at 10 a.m and continue through 7 p.m. with live art demos and refreshments.

During the evening from 7-9 p.m., the public can attend a silent auction by purchasing tickets for $25 per person, with food and beverages available.

On Sunday, Sept. 28, the free art exhibit continues from noon - 6 p.m.

A second event, during the weekend, will include Art on the Square, sponsored by the Artists’ Alliance of Sugar Land. The event will feature activities for children for a $2 admission fee per activity.

Other featured activities on the Square will include face painting, Plein aire painters, live drawing of live animals, caricature artists and more to be announced.
