Crusaders crush Northbrook

Updated: 10.05.08
Strake Jesuit scored the first 30 points of the game against Northbrook and cruised to a 44-10 blowout of Northbrook Saturday at Tully Stadium.

Brian Till put Strake on the board with a blocked punt that he fell on in the end zone for seven with 7:48 remaining in the first quarter.

Tyler McLamb doubled the lead with a 7-yard touchdown run with 5:26 left in the first, and James Scott found Kellan Belanger for a 7-yard touchdown pass before the end of the first to give the Crusaders a commanding 21-0 lead after one.

Scott found Klein Kubiak for a 27-yard touchdown pass with 9:52 remaining in the second quarter, and the rout was on as Strake led 30-3 at the half.

Scott threw a 49-yard touchdown pass to Kubiak to start the third and threw a 4-yard touchdown pass to Belanger later in the third to extend the lead to 44-3. A late Northbrook score made for the final margin.

Scott finished the game 5-of-6 passing for 106 yards and four touchdowns. Tim Ashe added 46 yards on nine carries for the Crusaders.

Strake limited Northbrook to just 228 yards of offense, but the play was sloppy for each team as they combined for 10 turnovers and 13 fumbles in the game.
