Free family festival hosted by county in Tomball park

Harris County Pct. 4 Commissioner Jerry Eversole is hosting the 16th annual Sunday Afternoon in the Park, a family festival, Sunday, Oct. 19 from noon to 5 p.m. at Burroughs Park, 9738 Hufsmith, near Tomball.

A rain date is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 26 with the same hours.

This free event takes place at one of Harris County’s recreational areas. Festival activities include musical entertainment, carnival games, wildlife exhibits, clowns, a magician, face painting, hayrides, nature tours, and fishing.

Deputies with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office and Precinct 4 Constable’s Office showcase special community and law enforcement services including child fingerprinting, motorcycle and canine units, mounted patrols, cruisers and Gismo, the “Robocop.”


Families may bring a picnic lunch or purchase food from the Tomball Girls’ Softball Association’s concession stand near the pavilion. Alcohol is not permitted at county-sponsored functions.

For information prior to the event and for directions to the park, call 281-893-3726, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. For after-hours assistance, call Burroughs Park at 281-351-1378.

Harris County Pct. 4 programs serve people of all ages regardless of socioeconomic level, race, color, sex, religion, national origin, or physical ability. Anyone requiring special assistance to participate in this event should contact Harris County Pct. 4 at 281-893-3726.
