The Small Business Administration is setting up shop in La Porte to help those small business affected by Hurricane Ike.
The SBA Business Assistance Center (BAC) will open at 9:30 a.m. today in La Porte. The site will be at the Economic Alliance-Houston Port Region building at 908 W. Main St., adjacent to the intersection of State Highway 146 and West Main Street.
The center is a partnership between the Small Business Administration, San Jacinto College, the University of Houston Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and the Economic Alliance (Houston Port Region economic development non-profit entity).
SBA customer service reps and SBDC business counselors will be on site to assist people with SBA loan applications for property and business losses.
Potential clients may download a form for business-related SBA disaster loans from the Economic Alliance web site (www.allianceportregion.com). Go to the News menu option.
Although appointments are not necessary, they are encouraged. Call 281-867-1112, ext. 13 to make an appointment.
Counselors will see clients from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Beginning Wednesday, the hours will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. until further notice.
