Jones named new CEO at Clear Lake Regional Medical Center

Stephen K. Jones, Jr., is the new Chief Executive Officer at Clear Lake Regional Medical Center (CLRMC), the largest hospital in the Bay Area. Jones comes to CLRMC from Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen, Texas, where he was CEO for three years. Prior, he was CEO at Southwest Medical Center in Lafayette, Louisiana.
His predecessor, Don Shaffett, retired after more than 20 years as CEO at CLRMC. During that time, CLRMC has grown from a relatively small community hospital to a medical center that has been included among the top 100 hospitals in the nation. For 2008, 2007 and 2006, Clear Lake Regional Medical Center was rated #1 in Overall Cardiac Services in the Houston area by HealthGrades®, a leading independent ratings firm.
During his time at Rio Grande Regional Hospital, Jones implemented a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, developed an in-house Hospitalist Program, achieved Center of Excellence status for its Bariatric Program and started a Maternal Fetal Medicine Program.
Jones, who has an MHA and an MBA from the University of Houston – Clear Lake, is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and the American College of Medical Practice Executives. He is a recipient of the American College of Healthcare Executive Early Career Healthcare Executive Regents Award from the Louisiana Hospital Association
At Clear Lake Regional Medical Center, Stephen Jones leads more than 1,800 professionals dedicated to the care of thousands of patients in this tertiary care referral center licensed for 595 beds.

With the opening of the only Pediatric Intensive Care Unit in the south Houston area, The Heart & Vascular Hospital, Pearland Emergency and Imaging Center, the Advanced Wound Care Center, the expansion of our Level IIIb Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and technological advances that include digital mammography at the Breast Diagnostic Center and a da Vinci robotic surgical system, CLRMC is a leader in advanced medical care in the Bay Area.
