AABY welcomes entries for its 2009 pet calendar
By JENNIFER SUMMER
It’s like Christmas when Kay Pass opens her mailbox and pictures of pets wearing costumes, sitting next to flowers or showing their best grins spill out.
For the second year in a row, the Animals Always Believe in You organization is accepting entries for its annual calendar and encouraging everyone to send in their pets’ pictures.
“Last year, we received so many great pictures but we were rushed and did not have much time to put it all together,” Kay Pass, founder of AABY, said. “We are very excited about all of the entries we have already received and all of the photos we are still waiting to receive.”
AABY sold more than 500 calendars last year and expects to sell even more at area pet supply stores, veterinarian offices and other businesses which support AABY.
Though most of the entries last year were dogs, they did receive a few cat photos and even a photo of a horse.
“We welcome photos of all kinds of pets and they may even win a slot in our calendar if they are chosen by the judges,” Pass explained.
The judges this year include several well known community members such as Kingwood Medical Center’s CEO Gay Nord and ladies from the Pampered Paws Boutique as well as some new faces like the new president of Lone Star College-Kingwood, Dr. Katherine Persson, and Dock Line magazine’s editor, George T. Chozenwun, just to name a few.
The animal that gets the most points from the judges will be featured on the front of the calendar. Once all the pets are chosen, the photos used in the calendar will be professionally taken by Pat Guard of Pat and Ray’s Studio.
The photos of the pets that are runners-up will be featured on a page in the back of the calendar.
“We are looking forward to seeing all of the beautiful animals that are well taken care of and loved by their owners,” Pass said. “We look forward to meeting a whole new set of superstars and their owners this year, so we are very excited to see the entries.”
