DHS band wins big at charity event

Updated: 09.08.08
The Dawson High School Eagle Band set two records at the Pearland Town Center Macy’s “Charity Day” event July 26.

The band sold the most tickets -- approximately 2,100 -- and brought the most customers to the event. Students, who sold the tickets throughout the summer, won $5,000 from Macy’s for setting both records.

“The DHS Eagle Band did a phenomenal job selling tickets. In all, the event raised over $60,000 for 51 charities and organizations,” said Melissa Steiner, general manager of the Pearland Town Center Macy’s.

“Charity Day” allowed qualifying charities and organizations a fundraising opportunity while giving ticket buyers an early shopping pass to Macy’s for store discounts before the grand opening of Pearland Town Center. Charities and organizations earned 100 percent of the profit from their ticket sales.
