Looking for a few Good Bricks

The Greater Houston Preservation Alliance is stil accepting nominations for excellence in historic preservation.

The 2009 Good Brick Awards are given to projects located within Harris County that were completed within the last three years.

Award categories are for:

renovation, restoration or adaptive re-use of historic buildings;


sympathetic additions or new buildings that enhance historic properties;

recognition of craftspeople;

preservation- or heritage-related programs or activities;

outstanding service or leadership in historic preservation.

Anyone may submit a nomination, but the nominee must be the property owner. All entries must be received at GHPA’s office, 212 Main St., Suite 110, by 4 p.m., Sept. 12.

Entries are judged by a jury of preservation and design professionals, community leaders and past award winners.

The Greater Houston Preservation Alliance has presented the awards since 1979.

GHPA is supported in part by grants from the city of Houston through the Houston Arts Alliance.
