Ideal weather conditions really brought out the riders Sunday morning for the Tour de Pink 2008. More than 2,200 supporters had pre-registered for the fundraising event, ride officials said.
Enthusiastic volunteers operated the pit stops and cheered riders along family-friendly bike routes of 12 to 100 miles. A festival of activities helped welcome riders who had completed their circuits.
Presented by Compass Bank, Pink Ribbons Project’s 4th annual Tour de Pink fundraising bike ride helps Pink Ribbons provide funds for breast-cancer awareness, education, screening and follow-up care for medically under-served women.
On Monday, Pink Ribbons staff in their office, 2449 South Blvd., pointed to a huge stack of late registrants and said final participation figures and funds raised are still being tallied.
