Innovative Mission Opportunities helps out in war-torn Middle East

In today’s world, excluding the United States military, many groups shy away from countries that are in war-torn areas. But the Innovative Mission Opportunities is one of a few who still believes in sharing the gospel.

“We are concentrating right now on areas such as Iran, Sudan, Afghanistan and others to find out what their needs are, come back to America to organize and fly back over to help the people who most need it,” said Jerry Squyres, founder of Innovative Mission Opportunities.

Since being established almost 10 years ago, Innovative Mission has obtained many grants to help other nations in need. Recently, they used 20 grants worth $100,000 to purchase and give away backpacks to children in Iraq. In Afghanistan, the mission focused on giving dental care to the citizens.

“Our mission, which is only one, is to get the gospel to those who have never heard of Jesus Christ,” Squyres said. “At least two-thirds of the world’s population has never heard about the gospel.”

The organization, which was presented to the Rotary Club of Humble Intercontinental Sept. 3, has scheduled 40 mission trips this year, with the next one near India.

“In November, we will go to Nepal to figure out what the needs of the people are,” he said. “Once we are on a mission trip, we are not allowed to share our beliefs with anyone, unless they ask us about it.”In addition to Nepal, other missionary trips scheduled for the rest of the year are Eritrea and South West China in October and India, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Turkey and back to South West China in November. Innovative Mission Opportunities, whose offices are located in Pearland, is an independent mission ministry mobilizing churches and individual believers to fulfill the desire of God that every nation and every tribe hear the truth about Jesus Christ. For more information on the ministry, visit www.imoi.org or call 281-997-7900.See www.thehumbleobserver.com for the full story.
