Date set for third annual Hispanic heritage celebration
The city of Baytown Parks and Recreation Department invites the public to attend its third annual Grito Fest on Saturday, Sept. 13 at Bicentennial Park, 1001 Market St.
Coinciding with September 16 - Mexican Independence Day - Grito Fest is being billed as a family friendly celebration of Hispanic culture in Baytown where, from 2 to 8:30 p.m. attendees will be treated to live Mariachis, kid’s activities and all the sights, sounds and smells of authentic Mexican tradition.
Performing at this year’s festival are such local musicians as the Mariachi Los Gallitos, Jamie y Los Chamacos and headliner Salomon Robles y Sus Legendarios.
In addition to music and food, this year’s Grito Fest will also feature a car show, jalapeno eating contest, salsa contest, accordion competition, and of course – a grito (yell) competition.
