New excitement at the Fort Bend Family YMCA

Local resident enjoys new YMCA equipment.

Updated: 09.04.08
There is a new buzz at the Fort Bend Family YMCA and a renewed energy with recent renovations and installation of new state-of-the art cardio exercise equipment.

On Sept. 2, the community fitness center debuted an array of the latest in cardio equipment, including new Precor and Expresso cardio exercise systems, with individual state-of-the art television screens, treadmills, bikes, and Elliptical Fitness Crosstrainers.

New upright bikes, recently installed at the facility, are equipped with the latest in interactive technology.

The bikes are Internet-accessible so users can log in at www.expresso.net and track mileage and other statistics while riding on a variety of trails of varying intensity levels.

The bikes also are equipped with interactive video for teens, programmed with 25-plus trail programs.

Users can also program the bikes in order to race up to four people at a time on certain settings.

The YMCA has also added six adaptive motion trainers that enable users to step, walk and run, depending on stride and intensity level.

This is the first facility in the Fort Bend area to offer this level of fitness equipment with the Cardio Theater Personal Viewing System, according to Sharon Hilburn, senior director of Fort Bend Family YMCA.

The public is invited to visit the Fort Bend Family YMCA, try out the new equipment and take a look at the many fall programs for adults and youth, including group fitness classes for the over 85 group and special fitness classes for youth, ages 5 – 13.

Childcare, in the YMCA’s Kid Zones, is available during participant workouts.

For more information, visit the Fort Bend Family YMCA, located at 4433 Cartwright Road in Missouri City or call 281-499-9622.
