Woodlands church opens Tomball satellite campus

In an effort to accommodate Tomball-area worshipers, the church formerly known as Fellowship of The Woodlands is opening a satellite campus in Tomball.

The church now called Woodlands Church is set to open its Northwest Campus meeting at Concordia Lutheran High School on Main Street Sunday, Sept. 14.

Kerry Shook, senior pastor of the church, is to be telecast during the Tomball campus’s two services.

Eddie Skinner, pastor of the northwest campus, said though Shook’s sermons will be telecast, every other aspect of the church will be live.

Skinner said as campus pastor, he is in charge of shepherding members and facilitating the church’s activities, which include children’s, youth and adult ministries.

On Sept. 14, 2007, the church opened a campus in Atascocita, near Humble. Combined, the Atascocita campus and the Woodlands campus draw an average of 15,000 worshippers each weekend.

Based on a previous service held at Concordia which drew 900 people, Skinner said the church is preparing for 1,000 people at each Sunday service.

The northwest campus is to meet at Concordia; however, Skinner said the goal is eventually to build its own facility. He said he believes Woodlands Church offers its members a unique experience.

“Our goal is to offer a relationship with Christ, not a religion,” he said. “I think lots of people have been burned by religion and past experiences, that’s why we want to promote a relationship with Christ instead.”

This is the second satellite church to open in Tomball; WoodsEdge Community Church meets at the Silverado 19 theater on SH 249.
