Ros Leads Cinco to Win

Updated: 09.03.08
SAN ANTONIO _ Shane Ros is back.

Ros missed nearly all of 2007 with an ACL injury that required surgery.

But Saturday, he went the distance for Cinco Ranch at quarterback and led the Cougars to a 21-17 come-from-behind win over San Antonio Reagan in the Texas Football Classic at the Alamodome.

Down 10-0 midway in the first period, Ros went to work by hitting Tyler Mack for a 13-yard touchdown with 2:29 to go in the quarter and later threw another 37-yard strike to Mack with 5:27 left before halftime to cut the Reagan lead to 17-14.

Ros then gave Cinco its first lead of the contest and what ultimately proved to be the final score when he capped a seven-play, 78-yard drive with a 13-yard scamper over the left side with 28 seconds to go before halftime.

“The plan was not necessarily for him to play the whole game," coach Don Clayton said. “But by the same token we felt like he had the level of experience there and leadership that was important to us.

“We obviously want to move some other people around if possible. But it worked out that he just had a great game.”

Ros went 14-of-33 with no interceptions and 178 yards while adding 46 yards on the ground.

Defensively, Cinco Ranch came up with two big fumble recoveries in the fourth quarter by Trevor Holt and Andy Thomas to hold off a pair of scoring threats by the Rattlers. The Thomas recovery came with 3:51 remaining on the Reagan 19.
