For the first time since 2000, the Tomball City Council has amended its ordinance governing oil and gas drilling during its Sept. 2 meeting.
The changes are: extending the city regulations to seismic activities, increasing the setback requirement for drilling, providing an appeal mechanism and making other related changes, setting a minimum production standard of 36 barrels in the preceding 36 month period, adding a setback requirement from any building, whether intended for human occupancy or not and requiring a permit for reworking a well.
