A local business owner was found stabbed to death in the driveway of his home Wednesday morning.
Pasadena police found 75-year-old Eugene Palma stabbed to death in the driveway of his home in the 2800 block of Dewberry on Wednesday morning.
Pasadena Police Department Public Information Officer Vance Mitchell said police received a call about 6:30 a.m. Wednesday.
“A woman called and said that she thought there was a body in her neighbor’s driveway,” he said. “We sent officers out to the residence and, in fact, there was a body there in the driveway. It was the owner of the home. He had been stabbed to death.”
Mitchell said are no suspects or leads.
“However, it’s very early in the investigation,” he said. “The detectives are working and ID has been out there most of the day (Wednesday) gathering evidence.”
Palma, the owner of Gene’s Better Times, formerly Ace of Clubs and later Brewskies at 5923 Spencer Highway, was said to be “a sweet, wonderful man with a big heart” by several patrons that frequented his place of business and claim to be regular karaoke singers at his bar.
“I and my family have known Gene for many, many years,” said one patron. “I could tell you stories about that guy that would bring a smile to anyone’s face. He will be greatly missed by all of us. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and to the staff at the bar.”
Anyone with information on Palma’s death is urged to call the Pasadena Police Department at 713-477-1221 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
