Bike the Bend set for Nov. 23

Cyclists of all ages and experience levels are encouraged to explore to take part in Bike the Bend for Literacy 2008.
The event will begin at 8 a.m., Nov. 23 at Foster High School, 4400 FM 723, in Richmond.
Bike the Bend is a BP MS 150 recommended ride benefiting the Literacy Council of Fort Bend County (LCFBC).
Cyclists can pick the route to suit their time and ability. The event will feature three routes of 19, 32, and 59 miles. Riders can register at www.active.com or at www.ftbendliteracy.org. Event-day registration and packet pick-up will begin at 7 a.m., and only cash and checks will be accepted at that time.
Pre-registration by Oct. 10 guarantees the rider a current-year Bike the Bend T-shirt. The cost for pre-registration is $30 per rider. Registration at the event is $40 per rider.
All proceeds will support the life-changing work of the Literacy Council of Fort Bend County, whose mission is to end inter-generational cycles of illiteracy and generate community-wide literacy awareness. Riders, sponsors, and volunteers participating in Bike the Bend for Literacy are helping to unlock the potential for determined adults who want to pass a legacy of literacy (proficiency in reading, writing, and understanding the written English language) to their children.
