A shopper at a local grocery store didn’t get customer service with a smile in a recent visit to a local H-E-B in Missouri City.

Instead a female shopper at the store was reportedly cursed and pushed by a cashier at the store, according to written notes from the responding officer.

The incident occurred on Wednesday around 2 in the morning on Aug. 20 at a H-E-B. store located at 4724 Highway 6.

According to statements taken from the victim in the preliminary police report, the incident began when the customer requested help in lifting a heavy item from her cart onto the check out register.

When the cashier refused, the store manager was called in to respond to the situation.

The manager told the cashier to apologize to the customer and the cashier complied, but rolled her eyes. The customer said that she would not leave the store without a real apology.

The cashier then began cursing at the customer and then stepped around the check out register and pushed the customer, according to the officer's notes.

The store manager had to pull the cashier away from the customer, according to information provided by Cpt. John Bailey of the Missouri City Police Department.

An arrest has not been made in the incident and several witnesses are being questioned by police in an ongoing investigation by the MCPD criminal investigations division, according to Bailey, who noted that the store is not equipped with video surveillance equipment.

According to a manager at the store, the employee involved in the incident, whose name could not be released, is still employed with the store at this time, and information has been sent to Human Resources regarding the incident.

The manager also indicated that a formal response would be provided from the store’s public affairs department.

" Seems to me the cashier was provoked. She had already apologized - the customer should have just left and let it alone. "
