Interfaith Announces New Therapist at Counseling Center

Updated: 08.26.08
The Interfaith Counseling Center is delighted to announce Teresa McGrath, LPC, has joined the team of nine therapists skilled in a multitude of counseling specialties available to serve the needs of our community. She is a Registered Nurse, a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.

According to Jan Hofer, Director of the Interfaith Counseling Center, “Teresa’s passion and love for assisting families and her educational background bring a unique combination of skills to the Counseling Center.”

McGrath, with extensive experience as a nurse and counselor, is a talented marriage and family counselor. Her experience as a neo natal unit nurse prepares her to work with families with premature and critically ill infants as well as mothers suffering from post partum depression. She also helps marriages successfully make the transition into parenthood.

“Her focus is on helping marriages strengthen rather than weaken during the new baby and toddler years,” said Hofer.

McGrath earned a Bachelor of Science degree from West Texas State University and a Master of Science degree in Psychology emphasizing Marriage and Family Therapy and Systems Theory from Our Lady of the Lakes University.

The Interfaith Counseling Center assists individuals with a number of issues including marital conflict, behavioral or school problems, grief and loss, divorce adjustment, relationship improvement, substance abuse, caregiver support, anger management, workplace issues and stress management. The Center also works with employee assistance programs, workplace training and consultation and critical incident management. The Center is also able to help clients who use their insurance or pay privately for individual, marriage or family therapy.
