Dauber reinstated as principal at Twain
Twain Elementary School Principal Joyce Dauber has been reinstated as principal after she was placed on administrative leave.
Adriana Tamez, HISD Central Region Superintendent said that Dauber had acknowledged making racially insensitive remarks.
Tamez announced Dauber’s return to the Twain campus last week in a written statement.
“The Equal Employment Opportunity office of the Houston Independent School District has completed its investigation and confirmed one of the eight allegations against Twain Elementary School Principal Joyce Dauber. The principal admitted that she had made inappropriate remarks to teachers concerning the placement of her grandson.”
The statement said the principal acknowledged her actions were “highly inappropriate.”
Dauber reportedly she wanted her grandson, a pupil at Twain, to be placed in a third-grade classroom with “nice white boys from the neighborhood” near the school.
HISD has not released any details about the other complaints made against Dauber.
