Once again, hulking figures are about to descend upon the Pasadena Convention Center and the action is going to be a non-stop three hours.
Booker T. is bringing some Midsummer Madness to the convention center this Friday night and the bell rings at 7:30.
Wrestling fans of all ages can take their eyes off the television sets and direct them to the real thing as Booker T. continues to bring live action and rivalries to Pasadena.
“We really want to reach out to all fans,” said Adrian R. Jones of Booker T PWA.
The center ring is set for the return of former WWF star Shawn Stasiak and the PWA team out to claim and reclaim victories.
PWA heavyweight Gustavo Mendoza is going to try to hold onto to his title as he issues an open challenge, while Tag Team champs Franco and Neico have the gold on the line.
Seven-foot Cyrus is looking to solidify his domination of the PWA as he takes on veteran wrestler Action Jackson.
Wrestling is a longtime Houston tradition and the Booker T. events are geared to relive the glory years for older fans and introduce them to a new generation.
The convention center has proven to be the perfect venue as attendance continues to increase.
“We want to fill the place up and we know there are a lot of fans in Pasadena,” said Jones.
The events have also been a chance to get a glimpse of some future superstars.
“The thing we like to say is that you see the tomorrow’s stars today,” said Jones. “At the same time Booker T. is going to be there as well and whenever he’s in the house, it’s going to be fun.”
The early, live days of Paul Boesch wrestling gave way to a television phenomena and Midsummer Madness is a way to recapture the sights, sounds and colorful characters of live action sports mixed with family entertainment.
“We want to expound on the legacy of Houston wrestling,” said Jones. “It was something where you would see grandkids to grandparents and everyone in between. We try to make it fun and entertaining for families of all ages. No one is left out.”
To that end, the Pasadena Police Department is always on hand at Booker T. productions to ensure safety.
Seeing the real thing on a stage, said Jones, just multiplies the action.
“You’re up close and personal with these guys and it just makes it more real,” said Jones. “You really get your money’s worth and get a chance to see a lot of great matches and you get to be heard.”
To purchase tickets over the phone, call 713-222-0588 or buy tickets the day of the event at the Pasadena Convention Center box office. Booker T will be available for photos at 6:30 p.m. when doors open. For more information visit www.bookertpwa.com.
