Houston man dies in motorcycle crash on FM 1960
By STEFANIE THOMAS
A motorist who allegedly pulled in front of a motorcycle rider as she was leaving a bar shortly after 11 p.m. on FM 1960 near Droitwich Drive in Atascocita Aug. 23 may have been intoxicated, authorities said.
The Atascocita Volunteer Fire Department and Harris County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the fatal accident and discovered that the motorcycle rider’s upper torso was lodged into the driver’s window of the car, operated by 20-year-old Kelley Janlyn Garcia, of Humble. Life Flight was summoned to transport the gravely injured Jason Allen Combs, 24, of Houston, to the hospital where he later died from his injuries, according to HCSO accident investigator G. Chelette.
“[Garcia] failed to yield right of way exiting a driveway and pulled into the path of the motorcycle, causing the crash,” Chelette said. “[Garcia] and a passenger were transported by ambulance and were in fair condition. [Garcia] had been drinking and provided a blood sample for testing.”
According to court records, Garcia received a sentence of deferred adjudication for felony burglary of a building the day prior to the accident, Aug. 22, in the 338th District Court.
Following the accident, FM 1960 remained closed completely for approximately two to three hours for the police investigation, said AVFD spokesman Bob Kelshaw.
The case remains under investigation by the Harris County Sheriff's Office Traffic Enforcement Section.

" It is just sad that someone would go celebrate by drinking because they didn't go to jail, and in turn take the life of an innocent man...one who had done nothing wrong, one who had just kissed the girl and loved and his unborn child goodbye for the last time. Now his child will never know her father, his girlfriend will never marry the man that she loved, his family will never be able to hug their son again.
Kickdawgs is at fault as well. A minors bar tab is not worth a mans life..........

My wife had a wonderful idea. Add motorcycle awareness to the drivers education and defensive driving courses. And make EVERYONE who applies for a drivers license ride a motorcycle for six months before the license is granted. That would definately make people slow down and look twice! "
