MC police investigating shots fired at local McDonald’s

A large group of young people were at a local fast food restaurant Saturday night when several shots were fired and one arrest was made.
Police arrested Patrick Morrison, a 20-year-old black male for unlawfully carrying a weapon, according to the police report.
Missouri City police are conducting an ongoing investigation into the incident involving shots fired around midnight, Aug. 6, at the McDonald’s located at 1605 Cartwright Road.
Several units were dispatched around 12:10 a.m. to the restaurant and arrived to find a large group of young people in the parking lot of the eatery.
During the investigation police found six 45-caliber shell casings and two 9-mm caliber shell casings in the parking lot of the eatery and the window of a car parked in the lot broken.
A white Ford Explorer described by one of the witnesses was spotted on Murphy Road by an officer, who identified a passenger in the vehicle as a member of a local street gang.
During a search of the vehicle, the officer found a handgun under the passenger seat of the car.
Officers believe the gun was used in a nearby incident involving shots fired at a local Jack in the Box on Highway 6.
According to Cpt. John Bailey the crime investigations division is conducting an ongoing investigation into the incident.
“There are still people out there with guns, we just don’t know all the details yet,” said Bailey, based on the number of shell casings found in the incident.
