No. Complete one application for all students in the household. Include all required information. Incomplete applications cannot be approved.

Who is eligible for free meals?

Children from households who receive food stamps or TANF can get free meals regardless of income. The benefit letter from the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is accepted as documentation for free meals. Those who have not already received a letter from the school stating eligibility can take the HHSC letter to the Child Nutrition Office for confirmation. Students can get free meals if the household income meets the Federal Income Guidelines and a complete application is submitted. Head Start students and most foster children can also qualify for free meals.

Is it necessary for those who received letters this school year stating approval for the free or reduced-price meals program to submit an application?

In most cases, no. However, the letter should be read carefully and the instructions followed. Those with questions should call the school.
