Missouri to conduct code enforcement sweeps
Missouri City will begin conducting city-wide code enforcement "sweeps” in an effort to maintain quality living standards and preserve area property values.
Groups of code enforcement inspectors will begin hitting the streets in different parts of the City, daily, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. beginning the week of Aug. 25.
"We're proud to be on Money Magazine's "Best Places to Live” and we appreciate the cooperation of our citizens in complying with our code enforcement initiatives,” said Mike Fogarty, code enforcement division coordinator in the City’s planning department.
Escalated code enforcement efforts by city inspectors will help identify specific areas in the city that have been overlooked or neglected.
Residents can find out when their neighborhood is scheduled for a visit from inspectors by visiting the city’s website or watching MC-TV16 for a list of site visits.
Flyers with information on areas slated for review are also available at city hall, the public safety headquarters and the Quail Valley Golf Course offices.
The city also will be informing residents about code enforcement “sweeps” via home owner association letters.
Inspectors will be assessing homes for general maintenance, high grass and loose gutters, as well as other areas in need of attention and repair.
“To report a code violation in their neighborhood, residents can call the Code Enforcement Hotline which is available 24-7,” said Fogarty.
“Callers may remain anonymous, or they can provide contact information for a call to be returned."
Upon identifying a code violation, code inspectors will either provide written notice or issue a citation requiring a municipal court appearance.
Residents receiving notices of code violations are encouraged to correct the problem(s) within the timeframe noted in the letter.
For more information, call the Code Enforcement Hotline at 281-403-8560.
