Magnolia Chamber moves to the back to make way for the new
By TANA ROSS
Anyone looking for the Magnolia Area Chamber of Commerce office needs to go to the back … the back of the building that is. MACC has temporarily moved its offices, located in the Prosperity Bank building at 18935 FM 1488, from the front northeast corner to the southwest corner, which is not visible from the street.
MACC President Anne Sundquist says the move is temporary and heralds good news for the chamber.
“We moved on Aug. 1 to make way for renovations to our offices,” she said. “We expect to be back into our expanded office space at the front of the building in two to three weeks.”
Sundquist said the chamber is gaining 200-plus square feet of space with the facelift. Renovations include an expanded lobby and office spaces, one new office, new conference room, an ADA compliant restroom and a separate storage/copier space.
MACC Office Manager L.J. Skibbe, new to the MACC staff, said she is impressed with two features of the renovated space: the storage and a coffee bar.
“We will have so much storage, something the chamber has needed,” she said. “And, the coffee bar is going to be amazing.”
Located in the front lobby, the MACC coffee bar will feature a granite countertop and will be available for visitors. Sundquist and Skibbe say MACC will host a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new office sometime in September. Be sure to visit www.TheMagnoliaPotpourri.com for announcement of the exact date.
