Dog Adoptions
Representatives from Labrador, Collie, Golden Retriever and American Brittany rescue groups will be presenting opportunities for shoppers to adopt rescued animals.
Pet adoptions are held in the Orvis store at 9595 Six Pines Drive every Saturday from 10 am – 2 pm.
Adoptions from the Greater Houston Golden Retrievers group are held on the first Saturday of every month followed by the Houston Collie Rescue group on the second Saturday of every month. Rescue Labradors are available on the third Saturday of every month and rescue American Brittanys can be adopted on the fourth Saturday of every month. The American Brittany rescue group also is in the store on the fourth Sunday of every month from 10 am – 2 pm.

Kid’s Fishing Tournament
The Woodlands Kiwanis 25th Annual Kids Fishing Tournament will be held on August 30, 2008, at Creekwood Park.
The competition will be open to any child age 16 or younger. Participants need their own finishing pole, but bait will be provided
There will also be free food, prizes, and trophies for all who participate.
Block Watch Festival
The Timber Lakes-Timber Ridge subdivision’s “Block Watch” is having the annual Back to School Festival and Garage Sale on Aug 23 to help raise money for the Block Watch program. The event will be held at the Timber Lakes/Timber Ridge HOA pavilion and grounds.
The festival begins at 9:00 and features carnival attractions, games, a dunking booth, moonwalk and other activities for children and adults.

The Woodlands Garden Club
The Woodlands Garden Club’s first meeting of the 2008-09 year will be held Tuesday, September 9th at 9:30 a.m. The club will be meeting at a new location at the Environmental Services Building located at 8203 Millennium Forest Drive (next to The Woodlands High School off of Research Forest Drive). In keeping with club president Joyce Nelsen’s theme of “Welcome to Our World”, members Julie Law, Mary Vacek and Diane Milano will Expand Our World by discussing bulbs of Holland, plants of South Africa and plants for the care and feeding of butterflies, respectively. The club meets the 2nd Tuesday of each month, September through May and guests are welcome. For more information, please call 281-381-3260.

The Woodlands Repertory Theatre will be holding auditions for Armchair, Texas and The Sound of Music on August 19, 20 & 22. Armchair, Texas auditions will be open to eighth grade students through adults, and Sound of Music will be open to First grade students through adults.
