Run for the Kids
Family Outreach is holding its inaugural run/walk event at 7 a.m. Sept. 14.
There will be a 1K for children ages 10 and younger prior to the 5K.
A fundraising event to enable Family Outreach to continue to meet the needs of at-risk families in the community – working to prevent child abuse and strengthen families through education and early intervention.
Registration is available online at www.active.com or www.familyoutreachclba.org.
Family and Team packages are available. There is no charge for the children’s 1K but registration is appreciated.
The race will start at Clear Lake High School on Bay Area Boulevard. For more information, call (281) 486-8827 or (281) 488- 4721.

The Ellington Rams youth football team has openings for players in its senior division.
Players age 11 to 13 may register by calling president Mike Gonzalez at 832-495-7345 or by signing up daily prior to practice at 6 p.m. at Wilson Memorial Park, 100 Gilpin, Houston.

Officials chapter needs members
The Houston Area Volleyball Officials Chapter will be conducting mandatory training sessions for persons 18 and over during the month of June.
If you are interested in officiating junior highs and high schools, public and private, in the Houston area, please contact Mary Beth Phelps at 713-475-8032 or Lisa Koehn at 281-486-4828. A fee is involved.

ECBA seeking local teams
Introducing the Elite Club Basketball Association, (ECBA). Our goal is to provide high quality men’s basketball on the Semi-Professional level.
The ECBA administrative staff has worked hard to improve the level of Semi-Pro Basketball in the United States and to make the league operations efficient and appealing to the members.
Teams will compete against very talented former-college and professional players with a variety of experience.
The 2009 Season begins on May 16 and ends Aug. 15, 2009. The 2009 schedule will feature weekly games played on Saturdays. Team enrollment ends Jan. 31, 2009.
