Tomball and Magnolia area residents may want to head over to the Houston SPCA between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23 when the animal shelter will give away free pets.
The Houston SPCA is encouraging residents of the greater Houston area looking for a friend for life to take advantage of its first-ever, “Houston SPCA Adoption Stimulus Package.” For the first time in the organization’s history, all canine, feline and rabbit adoptions will be underwritten in part by Hill’s Science Diet. That means approved adopters can take home up to two canines, felines or rabbits at no charge in celebration of The 14th Annual Houston SPCA Pet Telethon.
The Houston SPCA Pet Telethon will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Aug. 23, and will broadcast live from the shelter on The CW39 (KIAH-TV). During the 5-hour event, the Houston SPCA’s goal is to place every adoptable homeless canine, feline and rabbit at the shelter into a new permanent and responsible home.
In addition to saving innocent lives, the Houston SPCA Pet Telethon draws a host of local celebrities who come together to volunteer their time and talent to help all animals in need. The Houston SPCA Pet Telethon provide viewers with heartwarming stories of adoptions and dramatic rescues and features adoptable pets every hour.
In the last thirteen years, this event has generated more than $3 million, directly saving the lives of tens of thousands of homeless, neglected, abused, injured and ill animals in greater Houston community. Last year, the Houston SPCA provided services for more than 100,000 animals in need and last year investigated nearly 12,000 cases of abuse, cruelty and neglect.
All funds raised during the Houston SPCA Pet Telethon remains in the community, for the community. The Houston SPCA is a private, non-profit, donor-funded organization that does not receive any funding from the government, United Way, or national animal organizations.
