Town Hall Meeting with Congressman Gene Green in the USW Union Hall, 704 E. Pasadena Freeway at 11 a.m. Open to the public.

Aug. 26

The Deer Park Local Emergency Planning Committee meets from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of each month (except July and December) in the City Council Chambers of Deer Park City Hall located at 710 East San Augustine. All of the LEPC’s meetings and records are open to the public.

Free Spay/Neuter services for low income pet owners who qualify, at PetCo, 3680 Spencer, Pasadena. First come, first served. Clients should arrive by 6 a.m. and team arrives between 7-7:45 a.m. Call 713-522-2337 for requirements.

Sarah’s House 3rd Annual Vegas Night Fundraiser, 5:30-11 p.m. at the Hobby Hilton Hotel. Sponsors, table sales and auction items are needed. The shelter cares for homeless women and children and is in need of funding for basic needs. Right now, they have 23 women and children, which includes a tiny infant. Music by Alligator Handshake and auctioneer will be Bear Hebert. Call Tammie Nielsen at 713-545-6736 for complete information. The deadline for sponsorship is Aug. 15. The event will be a FUN evening and its success will ensure that Sarah’s House’s valuable work can continue.

Girl Scout San Jacinto Council Open House at 3110 Southwest Freeway, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. A fun-filled day to learn what Girl Scouting is all about. For more information, call 713-292-0300 or visit www.gssjc.org.

South Houston Adult LULAC Council and Pasadena High School Youth LULAC Council #1062 will celebrate “Fiestas Patras – Mexican Independence Day, with a parade at 3 p.m. The opening event at the Ave. A Park in South Houston will be at 1 p.m. Pavilion will be filled with booths and live music. Festivities will continue until 9 p.m. All proceeds will be used to fund scholarships and youth activities to involve young people in positive activities and help keep them out of gang influences.
