WALLER - Alice Stewart, Waller High School scholarship coordinator, organized a phenomenal all-time high of $3,857,570 in scholarship and grant money offers for the WHS Class of 2008 Graduates.
The funds will supplement the graduates’ education costs at higher educational institutions such as technical school, college, university, or the military.
Scholarship preparation begins early, starting in the ninth grade. Stewart helps the students recognize their talents and interests which formulates desirable higher education and career path goals.
Scholarship committees nowadays are looking for “well-rounded students” that have multiple qualities such as good grades, extracurricular involvement, responsibility, and community volunteering.
She wholeheartedly guides each student through the year-round, rigorous scholarship application process from start to finish. Non-stop encouragement is constantly provided each step of the way with academic and career success always in mind.
Stewart devotes her heart and soul to help build a strong educational foundation for the future of WHS students.
“The students do all the work, we just help guide them. They inspire us and they are why we are here. Their guidance stems from team effort that involves the parents and the entire WHS staff. ” Stewart said modestly.
“Alice’s hard work and dedication with all of the WHS students is incredible. She is a perfect example of someone that is doing an exceptional job and loves what she is doing all at the same time. We greatly appreciate all she does for the students of Waller ISD.” said Superintendent Richard McReavy.
Mrs. Stewart has been working as the WHS scholarship coordinator for the past eight years and has been employed at Waller High School for 19 years. She and her husband, Merle, have three daughters and twin grandsons.
Alice Stewart is available to assist any WHS student that is interested in any form of financial aid. Contact Stewart at (936) 372-3654 ext. 2015 or email her at astewart@wallerisd.net.
