The number of exemplary and recognized campuses in Pasadena ISD increased in the Texas Education Agency’s accountability ratings. Nine schools earned exemplary ratings, while 24 schools achieved recognized status.
Overall, the district received an academically acceptable rating as a result of test scores on the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS). However, the gains at many individual campuses show great promise. Last year, two schools received exemplary ratings and 22 campuses earned recognized status.
“Our teachers and principals are committed to making a positive impact in children’s lives every day,” said Kirk Lewis, Pasadena ISD superintendent.
“I am very proud of the positive strides that we have made. There is still room for improvement in many areas, and I am confident we’ll carry on the trend of continuous improvement that we have experienced each year. We are always looking for new ways to ensure that students are reaching a higher level of achievement.”
Campuses earning exemplary ratings are Atkinson, Frazier, Golden Acres, Matthys, Moore, Pearl Hall, South Shaver, Sparks and Turner elementary schools.
Schools receiving recognized status were Bailey Elementary, Gardens Elementary, Garfield Elementary, Genoa Elementary, Jessup Elementary, Kruse Elementary, Meador Elementary, Parks Elementary, Pomeroy Elementary, Richey Elementary, L.F. Smith Elementary, Mae Smythe Elementary, South Houston Elementary, Williams Elementary, Stuchbery Elementary, Jensen Elementary, Burnett Elementary, Teague Elementary, Young Elementary, Morales Elementary, Bush Elementary, De Zavala Fifth Grade Center and Carter Lomax Middle School.
“The success of our students depends on all educators, parents and the community working together to improve the educational program in our district,” Lewis said. “As we work together, great things continue to happen in this school district.”
