“Shout victory!” should be Gerald “Jerry” MacDonald’s cry after the Tuesday, Aug. 5, episode of “Big Brother 10,” the CBS reality show. The Magnolia resident both shouted and gained a victory by the end of the show.

With April Dowling, 30, a finance manager from Higley, Ariz. as Head of Household conversations escalated to shouting matches more than once. In one encounter MacDonald visited the “girls’ room” in what appeared to be an attempt to inform the women that , Robert “Memphis” Garrett, 25, a mixologist/party planner from Los Angeles, Calif. and one of the veto nominees of the week, was making fun of the heated discussion they were having. MacDonald made the mistake of saying, “Would you just shut up,” and the women were very upset with him.

In another shouting match that followed, this time in the kitchen as the houseguests gathered to sing Happy Birthday to Keesha Smith, 29, a Burbank, Calif. waitress, MacDonald remained seated and stone silent.

In the Slap Shot veto competition, where each competitor including MacDonald had to use a hockey stick to shoot a puck into a slotted net for five rounds of elimination, the retired Magnolia marketing executive managed to win the power of veto along with a week of kitchen duty, thanks to Garrett. The ongoing rift between Garrett and MacDonald was apparent when Garrett handed off the game’s “slop week” prize to the former marine, and it was present again when the LA bartender said he did not expect the veto power to be given to him by MacDonald.

At the veto meeting the veto nominees, Garrett and Jessie Godderz, 22, a bodybuilder from California, both said they would respect MacDonald for whatever decision he made. MacDonald chose not to use his power of veto for either player.

Watch Channel 11 at 7 p.m. in the Houston area on Thursday, Aug. 7, to see who will be the next player voted off “Big Brother 10.”
