University of Houston-Clear Lake welcomes Mrinal Mugdh as the university’s new associate vice president for academic affairs.

“Dr. Mugdh brings a large amount of experience and expertise to this position,” said Carl Stockton, UH-Clear Lake senior vice president for academic affairs and provost.

Prior to his position with UH-Clear Lake, Mugdh was the director of institutional research and planning for the University of Texas at Brownsville. He also has held positions with the State University of New York Empire State College, University of Wisconsin System Administration and Blue Cross & Blue Shield United of Wisconsin.

“I am excited about joining the University of Houston-Clear Lake as the university has an excellent reputation of providing quality academic programs to the people in the Houston-Galveston metropolitan area,” Mugdh said. “I look forward to working with President Staples, Provost Stockton, the faculty and staff in bringing the university to a new level of excellence.”

Mugdh earned a bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree and a doctorate, all with a focus on anthropology, from the University of Delhi in Delhi, India. He also received a Master of Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.

Over the next several months, Mugdh plans to work with his UH-Clear Lake colleagues to ensure the university has a successful Southern Association of Colleges and Schools re-affirmation, provide a quality enhancement plan and assist UH-Clear Lake with such projects as the Voluntary System of Accountability and the Carnegie Community Engagement classification.
