Structure fire at Cleveland Chip Plant
By ALEX WUKMAN
The massive cranes and trucks were silent at the Cleveland Chip Plant on Washington St. after a fire broke out the afternoon of July 29.
The fire, which started at approximately 5 p.m., raged for almost two hours despite the best efforts of the Cleveland, Tarkington and Splendora Fire Departments. The flames and smoke damaged one of the three buildings on the property but did not seem to have endangered any lives or severely impacted the equipment.
This is the second industrial fire in the Cleveland area in three weeks. The last was at a Forest Oil Corporation Compression Station on July 14.
